COMSOL Multiphysics^® Intensive Training Course (2 Days)

This course is the recommended starting point for learning how to use COMSOL Multiphysics®
During the 2-day intensive training course, you will develop a strong foundation for your future multiphysics modeling work. We start at an introductory level, leading students through the essential steps needed in all analyses (geometry creation, interactive meshing techniques, model setup, postprocessing, etc.) Then, we move into more advanced topics, such as solution techniques and multiphysics modeling.

To teach this course, we use a combination of guided hands-on training, theoretical and practical lecture, and self-guided hands-on training. The goal is to immerse you in all of the main aspects of using COMSOL Multiphysics^®, so that you feel comfortable working with the software. You will leave the course feeling confident that you are correctly solving your simulation problems with COMSOL Multiphysics^®.

Day 1, 8:30 - 16:00

The course begins with a guided introduction to the graphical user interface (GUI) of the software, so that you learn the key steps in the modeling workflow. In particular, we will walk you through the following:

• Overview of the user interface
• Navigate the graphics window
• Your first model
• Parameters
• Selections
• Basic drawing
• Adding extra physics – Multiphysics
• Basic postprocessing
• Materials
• Parameter sweeps
• Operators and variables
• Using functions
• Time dependent solution
• Postprocessing
• More on solvers & configuration of the solve sequence

Day 2, 8:30 - 16:00

The second day builds upon the training from the previous day with more examples and lecture that address:

• Geometry
• CAD Import and defeaturing
• Meshing – automatic and user defined
• Virtual geometry operations
• Adaptive meshing
• Using model methods
• Building apps

According to the length of the course and the interests of the participants, other topics can be considered.

Note: we don't provide a laptop, please bring your own. We will provide a free two-week trial version of COMSOL Multiphysics® to install on your laptop. Please make sure it is installed before the training starts.

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake and tea/coffee will be provided both days.

The COMSOL Multiphysics^® Intensive Training Course is suitable for anyone with an engineering, physics, or science background. No previous experience with COMSOL Multiphysics^® is required.
