Hi, Can someone tell me what is the difference when we model a heat transfer problem using enthalpy method or Effective heat capacity method for Phase change problems...

Hi,

you can either provide the effective heat capacity, that is the heat capacity as a function of temperature or you can provide the enthalpy of the phase transition and apply it together with a distribution function that defines over which temperature range the enthalpy change is taking place.

It depends on the data you have available.

Regards
Edgar
