Boundary condition for the semi-transparent interface between two participating media

Hello All,

I am new to COMSOL, and I am trying to run some simulations to estimate the radiative heat flux that gets transmitted through two layers of participating media using the physics of Radiation in Participating Medium from the Heat Transfer module of COMSOL.

My domain is divided into two subdomains (water and air, both participating in radiative heat transfer), one over the other and sharing a common boundary. A radiative heat flux qr is incident at the bottom surface of the first participating medium, and passes through both the layers before exiting through the top surface of the second participating medium (I have attached a schematic of the problem for better understanding). I am interested in estimating the amount of radiation incident on the top surface of the second layer.

However, even though I have used a semi-transparent boundary condition with transmittance 1, and have specified the interface as a semi-transparent pair, radiation does not seem to get transmitted to the top layer (i.e. the second participating medium). Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here? How can I correct this? Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance, Mikhil.

PS: I have also attached my mph file.
