Forced Turbulent Convection Cooling of a Hot Plate

This example shows how to model forced turbulent convection cooling with COMSOL Multiphysics. Two different approaches are demonstrated.

The first one uses the K-epsilon Turbulent Flow interface together with the Heat Transfer interface. The second approach is a simplified one making use of the heat transfer coefficient library supplied with the Heat Transfer Module.

In addition, this discussion shows how to modify the K-epsilon interface equations to take into account density variations (non-isothermal flow).
