Contact Analysis of a Snap Hook Fastener

Snap hook fasteners, where a hook is inserted into a groove, are common in the automotive industry, for example in the control panel of a car.

To obtain the magnitude of the forces necessary to insert and remove the hook, this model solves a nonlinear structural mechanics problem involving large deformations and contact between an elastic and an elasto-plastic body.
