Photonic Micro Prism

To reduce radiative losses in photonic waveguide bends, a microprism can be used. If a microprism is placed between two waveguides forming a sharp bend, light will be guided between the waveguides, through the prism.

This model describes the propagation of Electromagnetic waves in a miroprism. The model uses absorbing layers on the boundaries that are fine tuned to act as "perfectly matched layers" (PMLs).

The figure shows how the light (electric field) propagates through the prism.
